About

Anya Alchemy is an emerging singer-songwriter from the depths of the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria. Her rich, soulful vocals are the perfect match for her gritty songwriting style, exploring themes of love, loss, uncertainty and resurrection as seen through the eyes of a young woman. Anya’s sound is an infusion of soul, folk and blues influences, with gentle nods to her favourite artists such as Natasha Beddingfield, Frank Ocean and The Steeldrivers.

In 2019, Anya released her debut single ‘Home’, featuring fellow Melbourne artist, Pez, as a collaboration with charity World Vision. The success of this track saw over 60,000 streams on Spotify alone and initiated the artist journey for Anya. ‘Home’ was also entered into the 2019 Triple J Unearthed High competition, making Anya a finalist at only 16.

Following this success, Anya released her track ‘For You’ in 2021, a DIY family project produced by her brother (TheAudioKid) and instrumentally played by her step-father (Bernard Roberts). Not long after, Anya submitted an unreleased single ‘How Do You Sleep at Night’ to the International Songwriting Competition (ISC), became a semi-finalist and was honourably mentioned amongst thousands of teen applications.

Anya has recently been a contestant on Australian Idol 2023 and reached the top 4 of the competition whilst also receiving the first touchdown in over a decade since Idol’s return.
